What’s in Your Water?
You need to determine your water quality before you can effectively filter it. If you have municipal (i.e. city) water, then this will be fairly simple. Most water authorities provide their annual water quality reports online, so you can download it quickly and easily.
If you have well water, which about 15% of Americans do, then testing your water will require a bit more work, but is imperative in order to provide you the best solution to your water issues. You can have a basic test done testing for copper, nitrates, nitrites, pH, hardness and iron. Most online companies will do this for free if you send them a water sample. You can also have a more comprehensive test done by a reputable firm such as ntllabs.com.
